Recipe: Heart-Shaped Puff Pastries
Speaker: Chef Alec Lipschutz
"I think I'm in love. Hey everybody, it's Chef Alec. Valentine's Day is almost here, and I have a shockingly simple recipe for puff pastry hearts that you will just fall in love with.
So we're going to start off with a piece of store-bought puff pastry and then just cut it down in squares. So right here, I have some Nutella because I love Nutella, but you can use any filling you want, like a jam or a jelly—whatever you're into. And we're going to take some with my offset spatula and just spread a nice, even layer right across our puff pastry.
Now we're going to take our pastry and roll it up nice and tight, just like a pinwheel. And then we fold it in half, and then cut it almost all the way down the middle. And then we open it up, just like that, and voila! We have our little heart.
Cool! Our hearts are on our sheet tray, and they are ready to go in the oven at 400° for approximately 15 minutes.
Here we go—our final product! Some wonderful, fluffy pastry hearts."
