Mark This! Podcast: Safety Matters to Aramark, Episode 1

October 3, 2022

Mark This! is a podcast in which we peel back the corporate curtain to reveal the cool and innovative people, programs, and projects that are happening all over Aramark’s varied lines of business. These remarkable initiatives happen because we have remarkable people behind them--building opportunity, building innovation, and building community.

Join members of the enterprise safety team while we explore why Safety Matters to the Aramark community. On this episode of Mark This, we explore Aramark's safety culture, the backbone of a company that delivers ultimate hospitality to millions of people every day. Safety is not a reactionary process consisting only of a team or procedures to be deployed when things go wrong; it is truly a constant heartbeat and a mindset within the company culture with which to conduct business, anticipate and prevent issues before they occur, and to improve functions in ever-evolving partnerships. Todd Gardner, Vice President for Safety and Risk Control

Todd has been with Aramark for the past 15 years holding various roles, the last 10 with the safety team supporting multiple business units in the US and Canada. A graduate of The Florida State University, Todd holds a BS in Accounting and is a certified Lean Six Sigma practitioner. Todd has been happily married for 30 years and spends his free time volunteering extensively with youth programs in his community, working in his garden, and corralling his two rescue pit bull puppies.

Lara Malatesta, Vice President for Food Safety and Management Systems

Lara is passionate about helping the people she serves make better business decisions, create safer workplaces, and positively impact communities.  Lara has had the opportunity to advance EHS and food safety within large, complex, and dynamic corporations within the education, healthcare, sports, leisure, and energy industries for over 20 years.  She currently is the Vice President of Food Safety and Management Systems for Aramark, supporting more than 250,000 employees in the US and globally.

Lara earned a BS in Environmental Resource Management and an MS in Environmental Pollution Control from Pennsylvania State University and gives back to her community through on-going volunteer and board commitments.  She lives outside Denver, Colorado, with her husband and three young sons.  Their life is full - spending time outdoors camping, hiking, concert-going, and cheering on their favorite (often rival) sports teams.
