Aramark Student Nutrition Brings Fresh Grab-and-Go Dining to Students with "Godegas"

Aramark Student Nutrition is helping students access fresh, convenient meal options with its Godega concept, a mobile serving line inspired by the neighborhood bodega. Designed to complement traditional cafeteria service, Godegas bring grab-and-go meals directly to students in high-traffic areas, creating additional opportunities to access nutritious school meals.

Chandler Unified School District (Arizona)

Chandler Unified School District has adapted its Godega program to best meet student demand, ultimately finding strong engagement at its junior high schools. The mobile format allows the district's student nutrition team to rotate locations and feature special menu offerings, creating additional opportunities for students to access school meals in convenient settings.

One of the Aramark Student Nutrition team's biggest successes at Chandler has been its ability to introduce specialty menu items that aren't typically available on traditional serving lines. Offerings such as pot stickers and Take & Shake Chicken have quickly become popular among students.

The district has also used Godegas at events throughout the community, providing additional visibility for the student nutrition program and creating excitement around the dining experience.

Clint ISD (Texas)

Aramark Student Nutrition recently introduced the Godega concept at Clint ISD in Texas. Operating during lunch periods, the Godega complements the traditional cafeteria by offering convenient grab-and-go meal options, making it easier for students to take advantage of the free school lunches available throughout the district.

During the initial rollout, Godegas will serve students at Horizon High School, Mountain View High School, and Clint High School.

"Godega is another way we're investing in our students," said Carlos Villalobos, Clint ISD Child Nutrition Program Director. "We want lunch to be convenient, enjoyable, and accessible so every student has the opportunity to take advantage of the free meals offered at Clint ISD."

At Clint ISD, the Godega features a rotating selection of student favorites and fresh grab-and-go options, including pizza, sandwiches, salads, parfaits, smoothies, fresh fruit, vegetables, and other convenient meal choices.

Early student feedback has been positive, with an uptick in meal participation since the rollout of the Godegas, with students embracing the added flexibility and access provided by the mobile serving concept.

Dorchester School District 2 (South Carolina) 

The Aramark Student Nutrition team at Dorchester School District 2 uses Godegas to bring meals closer to high school students, helping them access food conveniently. The mobile units also support student engagement through alternative service concepts such as campus snack shacks. Aramark Student Nutrition has seen an increase of 10% in breakfast meals when the Godegas were moved to the bus loop at the high schools.  

Northwest ISD (Texas)

Northwest ISD has used Godegas to expand breakfast access by placing service stations near student parking areas, creating an added layer of convenience for students at the start of the school day. The mobile units have also provided valuable operational flexibility, serving as additional points of service during facility improvement projects.

Prosper ISD (Texas)

At Prosper ISD, the Godega supports second-chance breakfast service for student athletes and supports special events throughout the year, making it easy for students to grab a nutritious meal as part of their daily routine. The Student Nutrition team also utilizes the mobile unit to enhance special events throughout the school year

Springfield Public Schools (Missouri)

At Springfield Public Schools in Missouri, Aramark Student Nutrition has seen an 8-10% increase in breakfast sales since launching its Godega. The mobile units support second-chance breakfast service by bringing convenient meal options directly to students and expanding access to nutritious meals throughout the school day.

Warren Township School District (Indiana)

Warren Township Schools uses its Godega as a flexible point of service that supports a variety of student events and activities. The mobile unit has been especially valuable for football games, outdoor breakfast programs, cookouts, and other remote events, helping bring food service directly to students where they gather.

With Godegas now supporting schools across the country, Aramark Student Nutrition continues to expand their use as a flexible solution for increasing meal access, supporting student engagement, and addressing operational challenges. The future fall rollout of the Godega at Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School in Florida is the latest example of how Aramark Student Nutrition and its school district partners are adapting the mobile concept to meet the evolving needs of their students.
