The University of Hartford Dining Services Launches the First Allergen-Friendly Kosher Station on Campus

October 12, 2026

Aramark Collegiate Hospitality's University of Hartford Dining Services recently transformed its kosher dining station, Fig & Honey, into Fig & Honey True Balance, a first-of-its-kind dining concept that provides kosher meals made without the top nine food allergens (milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans, and sesame).

All meals are prepared under strict food safety protocols designed to minimize the risk of cross-contact. Production is supervised by UHart Dining’s in-house Mashgiachs, Shimone Bollinger and Stuart Snyder, who continue to oversee kosher compliance while assisting with food preparation and service.

Fig & Honey True Balance features an entirely new menu that is both kosher and allergen-friendly, including offerings such as Crispy Chicken Parmesan made with gluten-free panko breadcrumbs and Ancho Lime Carne Asada with Frijoles Negros. The transition expands the station's ability to serve students with a wide range of dietary needs while preserving the trusted kosher dining experience valued by the campus community.

"Our goal was to create a dining destination where students never have to choose between safety, quality, and flavor," said Angelique Jones, UHart Dining Field Marketing Manager. "Fig & Honey True Balance delivers kosher meals while providing added peace of mind for those managing food allergies."

Aramark partners to ensure kosher options are sized to meet the unique needs of each campus, including kosher menu featured items, a full kosher station, or a dedicated restaurant with a kosher meal plan.
