Grand Canyon North Rim Reopens May 15 Following Dragon Bravo Fire Recovery

May 14, 2026

Aramark Destinations, in partnership with the National Park Service, is proud to support the reopening of the Grand Canyon North Rim for the 2026 summer season beginning May 15, marking an important milestone in the area’s continued recovery following the Dragon Bravo Fire.

As visitors return to one of the beloved areas of Grand Canyon National Park, Aramark Destinations will once again provide essential visitor services and hospitality experiences that help guests reconnect with the natural beauty, quiet landscapes and iconic viewpoints that define the North Rim experience.

The reopening of the North Rim marks a meaningful step forward in the continued recovery following the Dragon Bravo Fire, which impacted access to one of the most peaceful and remote areas of Grand Canyon National Park. As visitors return this season, the reopening stands as a testament to the resilience of the landscape, the dedication of recovery crews and park partners, and the enduring spirit of a place that continues to inspire.

“Our teams are proud to help welcome visitors back to the North Rim for another unforgettable season,” said Sasha Day. “The reopening reflects the resilience of this remarkable destination and the continued commitment to preserving the experience guests have come to love for generations.”

Known for its higher elevation, cooler temperatures, and quieter canyon experience, the North Rim offers visitors a more remote and immersive way to experience Grand Canyon National Park. Seasonal services and visitor amenities are expected to resume as conditions allow.

All paved roadways within Grand Canyon National Park’s North Rim are expected to reopen for the 2026 season, including Highway 67, Cape Royal Road, and Point Imperial Road, restoring access to some of the region’s most iconic viewpoints such as Point Imperial, Cape Royal, Roosevelt Point, Walhalla Overlook, and Angels Window. The entire North Kaibab Trail is also scheduled to reopen May 15 for foot traffic only, though stock use will remain suspended for the season.

The North Rim Campground, managed by Aramark Destinations, is expected to reopen for tent camping and RV camping without hookups once conditions allow. The campground features 75 dry campsites located near the General Store. Reservations will be released on Recreation.gov once an official opening date is confirmed.

Aramark Destinations will also operate the North Rim General Store and Gas Station throughout the summer season. The General Store will offer prepackaged sandwiches, ready-to-eat meal options, beer and wine, firewood, ice, camping essentials, and retail items. A microwave will also be available for guest use.

The North Rim Gas Station will feature pay-at-the-pump service, but due to the remote nature of the North Rim, visitors are encouraged to plan ahead for fuel, food and supplies before arrival.

The 2026 North Rim season is tentatively scheduled to conclude after Labor Day weekend, depending on weather and operational conditions.

Visitors are encouraged to monitor official park and operational updates before traveling. For more information, visit https://www.grandcanyonnorth.com/.
