As the summer season gets underway, Aramark Facilities Management is focused on reinforcing safe operations across the wide range of environments it supports—from K-12 schools and university campuses, to workplaces and manufacturing environments, as well as large-scale sports and entertainment venues—through a “100 Days of Summer Safety” campaign.
Running from Memorial Day through Labor Day, the campaign is designed to reinforce safe behaviors, increase awareness, and engage employees at all levels of the organization during one of the busiest and most dynamic times of the year.
“This is a time when our teams are often operating at full speed, sometimes in more challenging conditions,” said Joseph Organ, Aramark Safety and Risk Operations Support Director. “By being intentional about safety during these months, we can stay ahead of risk and better support our people.”
The summer period brings a noticeable shift in activity across the Facilities Management portfolio. On university campuses and in K-12 schools, teams are heavily engaged in transition work—moving students out of dorms, resetting classrooms, completing maintenance projects, and preparing facilities for summer programs and camps. At the same time, sports and entertainment venues see increased activity as stadiums and arenas host packed sporting events, concerts, and seasonal programming, creating more complex operating environments.
This combination of project-based work, higher foot traffic, and changing conditions contributes to a concentration of risk. Historically, the summer months result in a higher rate of injury.
To address this, the campaign highlights safety topics aligned with the most common causes of injuries across the business, with regular checkpoints to monitor progress and reinforce accountability. Monthly focus areas, shaped by historical data, target risks with the greatest potential impact, including:
- Heat stress awareness
- Strains and sprains
- Slips, trips, and falls
- Ergonomics and workplace assessment
By aligning messaging to real-world operating conditions, the campaign is intended to move beyond general awareness and focus on prevention where it matters most, whether teams are completing maintenance work in summer heat, managing crowd flows at large venues, or navigating fast-paced campus turnover projects.

Safety messaging began earlier this spring, with a focus on safe lifting practices in April and heat illness awareness in May—helping teams prepare ahead of peak summer activity. Aramark Facilities Management leadership helped set expectations and reinforce safety priorities throughout the summer. Cross-functional partners in HR, Finance, Marketing, and Safety & Risk Solutions are also supporting the effort, helping extend the campaign’s reach and connect it to broader initiatives like Target Zero—Aramark’s enterprise-wide commitment to preventing harm to people and the environment—and reinforcing a culture of safety that is prioritized year-round.
To support the rollout, the Facilities Management team has also introducing new communication tools, including a campaign video developed in collaboration with safety and risk partners. Regular check-ins throughout the summer will provide opportunities to assess progress, share learnings, and maintain focus on safety across sites.
“While structured around the summer months, the campaign is intended to support a sustained culture of safety that extends well beyond the season and remains a priority throughout the year,” Organ added.
