Ireland’s Carlow County Council has appointed Aramark Ireland Energy Solutions to lead the design development and project management of the VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art and the George Bernard Shaw Theatre (VISUAL).
Co-funded by the Council and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), the project will deliver €1.5m in energy upgrades to increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions at VISUAL, including:
- Removal of all gas-fired heating systems;
- Upgrades to building insulation;
- Improved ventilation systems; and
- Installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
“This project allows us to demonstrate how complex cultural buildings can successfully transition to a low carbon future without compromising their operational or aesthetic qualities,” said Jason Keegan, Vice President - Workplace Solutions, Aramark Ireland. “By delivering both design and project management, we look forward to working closely with Carlow County Council and SEAI to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions for the community.”
Local leaders have highlighted the importance of this investment for both climate action and the long-term sustainability of cultural facilities. The Carlow County Council has emphasized the VISUAL project will demonstrate practical, low carbon alternatives to traditional fossil fuel systems and help deliver on the County’s climate action plan.
This win represents an important milestone for Aramark Ireland Energy Solutions, reinforcing the team’s capability in delivering impactful, future-focused solutions for public sector partners.
