For the 23rd year, Aramark Spain provided catering, hospitality, and public services to nearly 170,000 fans during the Monster Energy Grand Prix of Catalonia MotoGP, which was held at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, a raceway located in Montmeló near Barcelona, Spain.
The MotoGP event in Spain was part of the FIM World Championship Grand Prix, an international motorcycling competition taking place this year in 24 venues around the world.
“We are very proud to have been selected once again as the trusted partner for this exciting international event,” said Jaime Thiebaut, President and Managing Director, Aramark Spain. “Nearly 900 of our team members were on hand to make sure fans had the best possible experience at every turn.”
Taste Meets Technology
To serve the attendees, Aramark set up 80 points of sale throughout the Circuit, which included hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, wraps, baguettes, snacks, ice cream, fruit, and salads. Vegetarian and gluten-free options were also offered.
In premium areas, guests were served culinary offerings to complement the excitement of the races.
Aramark Spain incorporated innovative technology solutions to improve the fan experience, including their Express MKT concept.
At four Express MKT stations at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, fans picked up their favorite products and paid for them at the end using self-checkout technology, including artificial intelligence so they could get their food and quickly get back to the race action. Aramark Spain implements this technology at other facilities, including RCDE Stadium and Palau Blaugrana.
In line with the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya's—and Aramark’s—commitment to sustainability, Aramark Spain coordinated waste recycling, used recyclable cups and biodegradable single-use materials, sourced local food when possible, and donated surplus food to a nearby nonprofit organizations after the MotoGP event ended.
