IN2WORK Gives Back: Graduates Unite to Support Feeding South Dakota in Rapid City

September 11, 2025

On September 9, 2025, a group of 17 IN2WORK graduates gathered in Rapid City, South Dakota, for the “IN2WORK Gives Back” event—an inspiring day of service aimed at helping those facing food insecurity in the region. In partnership with Feeding South Dakota, participants packed snack bags filled with nutritious, shelf-stable items for distribution to individuals and families in need.

“Right now, food donations are more critical than ever as many South Dakotans continue to face tough choices between putting food on the table and covering other basic needs. Feeding South Dakota is deeply grateful for the partnership we share with Aramark’s IN2WORK program,” said Jennifer Stensaas, Community Engagement Manager for Feeding South Dakota. “Not only does this program provide nutritious food for our neighbors in need across western South Dakota, but it also offers IN2WORK participants valuable skills and opportunities to give back—making the impact of this partnership truly life-changing for both those who give and those who receive.”

The event was a collaborative effort involving the South Dakota Department of Corrections (SD DOC), Aramark Correctional Services, Union Supply, IN2WORK, and Feeding South Dakota. Together, these organizations empowered graduates to give back to their community in a meaningful way.

Each snack bag included a variety of shelf-stable items, donated by Union Supply. From granola and protein bars to peanut butter, cereal, crackers, and drinks, the snacks were combined to provide both nutrition and comfort.

“This event gives our IN2WORK graduates the opportunity to contribute to their community in a positive, tangible way by helping those who may be facing food insecurities,” said Nicole McVaugh, Aramark’s IN2WORK Director. “Packing shelf-stable bags for Feeding South Dakota allows participants to feel a sense of purpose, accomplishment, and pride in being part of something bigger than themselves — it reinforces the idea that they can make a difference.”

Founded on the belief that education and hands-on training can help break the cycle of recidivism, Aramark’s IN2WORK program empowers incarcerated individuals to build meaningful futures. With over 16,000 graduates, 325 interns currently working, and 564 graduates hired post-release, the program demonstrates tangible success in supporting reentry and long-term career growth.
