Aramark Healthcare+’s Atrium Health Environmental Services Team Shines in Las Vegas at 35th Annual Housekeeping Olympics

December 8, 2025

Aramark Healthcare+ Environmental Services (EVS) teams play a vital role in infection prevention, ensuring patient rooms and common areas are cleaned and disinfected to the highest standards for the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.

That same commitment moved from the hospital floor to the competition floor when Aramark Healthcare+ partner Atrium Health’s EVS team showcased their expertise at the 35th annual Indoor Environmental Healthcare and Hospitality Association (IEHA) Housekeeping Olympics in Las Vegas.

In their first year participating, “The Queen City Team”—comprised of EVS members from several Atrium Health hospitals in Charlotte, North Carolina—secured an impressive fifth-place overall finish against top EVS professionals from across the country. The Housekeeping Olympics featured events such as Bed Making, a Vacuum Race, Buffer Toss, Mop Relay, Executive Challenge, and Spirit Competition.

After months of preparation, the team delivered a standout performance. Team member Kaishawn Mars, from Atrium Health Mercy, led the way with a silver medal in the Vacuum Race, securing second place in that event.

“We went to the Housekeeping Olympics with our best, our pride, and our commitment,” said Esezele Payne, Enterprise Vice President for Atrium Health. “We left proving what we’ve always known—healthcare workers can compete with the best in the hospitality industry.”

Teams qualify for the Housekeeping Olympics by applying to the IEHA Olympic Committee and committing to rigorous practice to ensure a competitive showing.

“Atrium Health’s performance at the Housekeeping Olympics was outstanding,” said Isaac Johnson, Aramark Healthcare+ Senior Vice President of Operations, who has supported the event for more than two decades—first as a volunteer and later as Head Judge. “Competing for the first time and finishing in the top five is no small feat—it speaks to their incredible commitment and team spirit. We’re grateful for our strong partnership with Atrium Health and are proud to see our EVS teams shine on such a prominent stage. At Aramark Healthcare+, we share that same dedication to excellence in Environmental Services, and achievements like this underscore the vital role EVS teams play in creating safe, clean environments that support quality care and better patient outcomes.”

Aramark Healthcare+ continues to advance technologies, solutions, and processes—from robotics and automation to UV-C disinfection and sustainability initiatives—that safeguard patients while improving operational efficiency. These innovations ensure that excellence in healthcare starts with a clean, safe environment.
