Yosemite Hospitality Expands Electric Vehicle Fleet

October 15, 2024

Aramark’s commitment to sustainability has taken a significant step forward with the addition of four new all-electric vehicles (EVs) to the Yosemite Hospitality fleet at Yosemite National Park. This expansion brings the total number of EVs to 14, including 11 Ford F-150 Lightning Trucks, two Ford E-Transit Vans, and one Chevrolet Spark.

Additionally, Yosemite Hospitality, a subsidiary of Aramark, is committed to greening the entire fleet by not only adding more EVs but also transitioning the remaining fleet to hybrid and fuel-efficient vehicles.

To support this growing fleet, Yosemite Hospitality is also developing dedicated charging stations. These stations aim to minimize the impact on guest charging needs, ensuring that visitors have ample time and space to charge their own vehicles while enjoying the park.

“We are proud to advance our sustainability efforts with the addition of new electric vehicles at Yosemite National Park,” said Nick Sponaugle, Vice President of Operations at Yosemite Hospitality. “This expansion is a testament to our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and enhancing the visitor experience. By adding dedicated charging stations and transitioning our fleet to more eco-friendly options, we are working toward a greener future for Yosemite National Park.”

Yosemite Hospitality is dedicated to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through various initiatives. Aramark has set ambitious science-based greenhouse gas reduction targets companywide, including goals to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions 57.1% by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Aramark reports its annual greenhouse gas inventory through the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) to track progress.

The introduction of EVs aligns with the company’s broader Be Well. Do Well. platform and supports cleaner air and quieter surroundings while underscoring the importance of preserving the natural beauty of Yosemite National Park. This integration represents a harmonious blend of technology and nature, furthering Yosemite Hospitality’s commitment to sustainable tourism.
