Aramark’s culture of hospitality is the foundation of everything the company does. Building this culture requires collaboration, innovation, and a deep-seated desire to exceed customer and client expectations—along with creating an environment in which Aramark team members can successfully deliver on and embody the values of hospitality.
In addition to encouraging all leaders and team members to embody the spirit of hospitality in everything they do, there is an Aramark cross-functional team dedicated to helping the organization stay focused on—and execute—the foundational principles of first-in-class hospitality.
Aramark Hospitality Enablement encompasses a group of leaders who are experts in their fields and are focused on ensuring the success of field operators.
Hospitality Enablement leaders are focused in several discipline areas—including operational excellence, culinary and menu enablement, retail brand and B2B marketing, and safety and risk solutions.

Learning Bites
Recognizing that training is crucial for operators, the Hospitality Enablement team understands that busy schedules often hinder the completion of necessary training.
To address this, they have developed a training strategy that incorporates shorter, on-demand training resources to fit seamlessly into operators’ schedules.
“Our team recently began creating a micro-learning series we call, ‘Learning Bites’ to answer frequently asked questions,” said Amy DeMage, MS, RDN, LD, Manager of Strategic Initiatives, Aramark Hospitality Enablement. “We select food or labor-related topics that span different lines of business, and then package up the related bite-sized videos, job aids, slide shows, and other resources to help the field operators better learn and execute.”

Learning Bites is used in conjunction with other training programs. Currently focused on elements of the food management system and process, there are Learning Bites related to maintaining inventory, how to optimize and map e-receiving, and how to maximize ingredient and allergen transparency, among other topics.
In Practice
Ingredients and allergen transparency are key focus areas at Aramark Collegiate Hospitality accounts to ensure students and other guests are provided the most accurate information.
“Learning Bites aligns well with our ongoing efforts around process optimizations for our teams,” said Brandi Heatherly, Vice President of Performance Excellence and Hospitality Enablement, Aramark Collegiate Hospitality. “Our team loves to receive small ‘digestible’ pieces of information for continued understanding and utilization of our tools and processes.”
The Hospitality Enablement team keeps an eye on usage and monitors feedback from operators to make sure they are developing the right tools for the right topics.
“As the need for Learning Bites expands, we can provide supporting resources for a variety of topics,” said DeMage. “This concept can be applied to any system or tool out there—and we’ll continue to develop materials that help us provide the optimal hospitality service for our guests.
