Aramark Germany’s Niklas Herrmann participated and won INTERNORGA’s 2024 Next Chef Award. The hotly contested German event spanned two days and involved 18 of the country’s top young chefs.
Each chef was tasked with creating a ready-made dish provided by TV chef, Johann Lafer. Without a recipe, the finalists had to visually study the dish, taste it, and put together the correct ingredients. Niklas was the only finalist to select the correct ingredients where he created a flavorful rendition of Johann Lafer’s dish that stayed true to the original recipe.
“The final was nerve-wracking, but above all, it was a lot of fun competing against such great colleagues,” Herrmann said. “I’m delighted to have won the award.”
“I applaud Niklas for winning this year’s competition and cannot contain my pride for his culinary expertise and dedication to the craft,” said Arnd Rune Thomas, President and CEO of Aramark Germany. “Niklas’ win is a testament to Aramark Germany’s commitment to empowering culinary creativity.”
Sponsored by TV chef, Johann Lafer, INTERNORGA, the leading trade fair for the catering and hotel industry in Germany, offers the Next Chef Award every year to promote young talent in the culinary world. Premiering in 2016, the competition maintains its popularity and credibility by launching the careers of young German chefs. Not only does the winner get public accolade, but also has the opportunity to publish a cookbook with the esteemed German publishing house Gräfe und Unzer.
