Dating back to the fifties, Sandwich Month is celebrated every year in August to honor one of the most versatile and beloved foods in the world.
Aramark Sports + Entertainment is serving standout sandwiches across the country this baseball season, featuring local favorites and player-inspired creations. The culinary team is excited to highlight three handheld homeruns from its roster.
Here are the baseball bites up to bat:
Citizens Bank Park
When you think of Philadelphia, you think of cheesesteaks! Roughly 3,000 cheesesteaks are served at every Phillies’ game.
Citizens Bank Park’s rendition of the famous cheesesteak includes shaved rib-eye on a Liscio’s seeded roll, topped with caramelized onions, and the choice of “wiz” or Cooper Sharp cheese sauce.
Executive Chef Iovonnie (Vonnie) Negron, was recently featured on MLB Network's "MLB Central," where he served up the sandwich of Brotherly Love to MLB Network hosts.
The culinary team at Citizens Bank Park offers the signature steak sandwich at Uncle Charlie’s Cheesesteaks, located behind Section 109. Baseball fans can also chow down at local partner locations in Ashburn Alley, including Tony Luke’s and Campo’s.
Fenway Park
The team at Fenway Park is putting a tasty twist on a comfort food classic.
Introduced in July, the Pig Mac is a grilled cheese stuffed with mac and cheese, pulled pork, and bacon strips on sourdough bread.
"At Fenway Park, we’re always trying to elevate our menu items,” said Ron Abell, Senior Executive Chef at Fenway Park. “In collaboration with our Culinary and Operations team, we are able to present this exciting new limited time offer. I think the fans are really going to enjoy this take on the classic grilled cheese.”
The savory sandwich is available for baseball fans on the Truly Terrace and Ketel One Deck.
Kauffman Stadium
Kansas City Royals fans can get their hands on Vinnie’s Italian Beef Pasqwich, created in partnership with first baseman, Vinnie Pasquantino.
The Pasqwich features shaved Italian beef topped with two slices of provolone cheese, two strips of bacon, crispy golden-brown hashbrown patties, and giardiniera aioli, all served on a buttered and grilled brioche bun.
The best part? A portion of the proceeds benefit The Kansas City Royals Foundation and its support of Wayside Waifs.
The sandwich can be purchased at the “Pasquantino’s” stand, located at section 208 near Gate A.
No curveballs here! Although Aramark might be celebrating National Sandwich Month in August, these three grand slam sandwiches will be available all season-long at Citizens Bank Park, Fenway Park, and Kauffman Stadium.
