Aramark Chile will expand its food service and logistics model with a new production center featuring the latest technology to create cook-and-chill prepared meals, enabling the company to make and deliver an estimated 40,000 meals each day.
Meals prepared in a cook-and-chill environment offer high standards of quality and food safety and are an ideal way to cater to clients ranging from those with more than 5,000 diners to those with no more than 30 people.
The construction of the new center, located in Lampa, Chile, involved an investment of $10 million and is part of the company's growth plan through 2027. It is set to open at the end of 2024 following a trial period.
“We will continue to invest in Chile, seeking more capabilities that will allow us to add value to our clients,” said Eduardo Rojas, President, Aramark Latin America. “Our sector is well known for its job creation, and with this plant, we also want to contribute to the country’s growth in this area,” he added.
As a leading food and facilities provider in the country, Aramark Chile currently employs more than 25,000 employees. The new facility will create direct employment for over 150 people and, with the anticipated increase in production, Aramark Chile expects it could create up to 4,000 new jobs.
Additionally, given the high production volumes at the new facility, Aramark Chile expects that approximately 230 tons of food will be purchased monthly from suppliers.
The new plant will feature the latest cook-and-chill technology from European and American systems to ensure a high-quality product with a shelf-life above industry averages to efficiently serve clients ranging from large mining sites to national retailers.
The technology features software that ensures high traceability from the entry of products at the plant to the day and location where meals will be delivered and consumed. This not only contributes to food safety but also to logistical efficiency and waste control, further supporting environmental efforts against food waste.
“The new production facility is a milestone in terms of innovation, allowing us to focus on continuously renewing and improving our culinary offerings,” said Rojas.
