School food service managers must wear many hats.
From making sure all meals meet nutritional requirements to making sure the food looks and tastes great and keeps young customers satisfied, food service directors and managers must be at the top of their game to deliver excellent service every day.
To ensure the teams continued to deliver daily on customer and client expectations, Aramark Student Nutrition developed a new leadership training program to improve skills, engage team members, and provide a pathway to professional development and promotability.
“The service industry has evolved greatly over the past few years, and we take our responsibility seriously to offer teams the kind of training and guidance they need,” said Terry Kirk, Vice President of Human Resources, Aramark Student Nutrition.
“The content covered in the modules was very detailed and explained the topic and concepts well. It had great resources and reference material—and it gave me the confidence to apply the things I learned in day-to-day management.”
- Robert “Jamie” Stape, Area Supervisor at a large school district in Texas

Powering Potential Leaders is a comprehensive, 10-module, hands-on training program through which front-line managers of all levels acquire valuable skills and can put them to use immediately.
Managers selected to participate in Powering Potential Leaders work with an assigned Training Manager who has been certified to guide them through the program.
Training modules cover how to understand the school regulatory environment, managing and leading people, food and workplace safety, service excellence, and more.
The Powering Potential Leaders training program was first piloted in late 2022—and Aramark Student Nutrition managers will participate in the program during the 2023-2024 school year.
