Four Aramark Collegiate Hospitality university dining locations were recognized for their innovative approaches and passion for hospitality and culinary excellence in support of college students and their campus communities.
The National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) recently announced the winners of the 2023 Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards, Nutrition Awards, and Sustainability Awards, of which Aramark Collegiate Hospitality accounts picked up five of this year’s awards. Aramark’s 2023 Winners
Congratulations to the Aramark Collegiate Hospitality teams at the following universities:
- Boston University, Gold Sustainability Award: Waste Management
- University of California-Irvine, Silver Sustainability Award: Outreach and Education

- University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which picked up two awards:
- Silver Loyal E. Horton Dining Award: Retail Sales-Single Concept/Multiple Concepts/Marketplace for The Scoop Carolina Crafted Local Creamery
- Silver Nutrition Award: Best Local Foods Recipe for their Local Creamy Carolina Rice Grit Bowl featuring foods farmed and produced throughout North Carolina
- University of Alabama, Bronze Loyal E. Horton Dining Award: Residential Dining Concepts for Yoshoku, an Asian-themed stir fry experience popular with student diners.

Awards and Categories
Named for a NACUFS founder, past president, and highly regarded innovator, the Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards celebrate members' innovative ideas and program implementation. NACUFS member institutions across North America submitted entries in the following categories: Residential Dining Concepts; Residential Dining Facility; Residential Dining – Special Event; Retail Sales – Single Concept/Multiple Concepts/Marketplace; Catering – Special Event; and Catering – Online Menu.
The NACUFS Nutrition Awards recognize outstanding nutrition and wellness programs that meet the needs of their students. Categories include Most Innovative Wellness and Nutrition Program and Best Local Foods Recipe.
NACUFS Sustainability Awards recognize the crucial role the dining services team plays in the overall environmental sustainability and social responsibility of a campus. Award categories included Outreach and Education, Procurement Practices, and Waste Management.
A team of six judges and a committee chair examined each entry and presented gold, silver, and bronze awards in each category.
