Ice Skating at Curry Village

One of the most popular winter attractions in Yosemite National Park is the Curry Village Ice Rink, an outdoor skating rink that offers a stunning view of Half Dome and Glacier Point and was recently ranked No. 2 on the 2023 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice travel awards list for Best Ice Skating Rink.

The rink is operated by Yosemite Hospitality, a subsidiary of Aramark, which also manages lodging, food and beverage, retail, recreational activities, tours, interpretive programs, transportation, and service stations within the park.

“Families enjoy being able to skate under the stars and the shadows of Half Dome and Glacier Point. You feel like you're part of nature, not just a visitor” said Chelsie Layman, Director of Communications, Yosemite Hospitality. “The ice rink has been here since 1929, and it's a tradition for many families to come here every winter. We love seeing the smiles on people's faces as they glide on the ice, warm up by the fire, or enjoy some hot chocolate and s'mores.”

Curry Village is a historic site dating back to 1899. And, since 1929, Curry Village has been the home of Yosemite’s inaugural ice rink. Yosemite’s visionaries created the ice rink with the hope of bringing the Olympics to Yosemite National Park back in the 1930s, but that did not come to fruition.

The rink is open seasonally, usually from mid-November to mid-March, depending on the weather conditions and the availability of ice. The rink has a capacity of 200 skaters and offers skate rentals, lockers, and a warming hut. Guests can also enjoy a cozy fire pit, s'mores, and hot drinks at the rink.. The Curry Village Ice Rink is a great way to experience the beauty and charm of Yosemite in winter, while having fun with family and friends.
