Statement on Cage-Free Eggs

March 1, 2015

Aramark is proud to partner with the Humane Society of the U.S. (HSUS), the nation's largest and most effective animal protection organization, to advance our commitment to responsible purchasing and operating practices. We have taken a number of actions to improve animal welfare in conjunction with HSUS -- including sourcing 30 million cage-free shell eggs this year and purchasing only gestation crate-free pork by 2017.

Work is underway to strengthen our animal welfare commitment by expanding our cage-free egg purchasing to include all liquid, pre-cracked eggs, in the U.S. In fact, many of our accounts have already made the transition. We are continuing to partner with HSUS and look forward to sharing our plan and actions to achieve this next shared goal.

“We are pleased to continue our constructive relationship with Aramark,” said Josh Balk, Senior Director of Food Policy at HSUS. “We appreciate Aramark’s willingness to collaborate on further improvements for the more humane treatment of animals.”
