PHILADELPHIA, PA (October 17, 2016) – Monumental Sports & Entertainment and Aramark, Verizon Center’s concessionaire, today announced a “pop up” collaboration with internationally acclaimed culinary pioneer and innovator Chef José Andrés that will bring his award-winning talent and cuisine to Washington Capitals and Wizards fans, as well as concert, family show and sporting event guests during the 2016-17 season.
About Chef José Andrés
Named as one of Time’s “100 Most Influential People” and awarded “Outstanding Chef” by the James Beard Foundation, José Andrés is an internationally-recognized culinary innovator, author, educator, television personality, humanitarian and chef/owner of ThinkFoodGroup. A pioneer of Spanish tapas in the United States, he is also known for his groundbreaking avant-garde cuisine and his award-winning group of 25 restaurants located throughout the country and beyond. His innovative minibar by José Andrés was awarded two Michelin stars in 2016, one of the first restaurants in Washington, D.C. to be recognized by the institution. Additional DC area restaurants include Jaleo, Zaytinya, Oyamel, China Chilcano and America Eats Tavern as well as Beefsteak and Pepe food truck. Andrés’ work has earned awards and distinctions such as the 2015 National Humanities Medal, one of 12 distinguished recipients of the award from the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Outstanding American by Choice award, presented by President Obama.
