Water Conservation a Priority for Uniform Facilities

ARAMARK is committed to conserving valuable resources and reducing pollutant loading to the environment at the industrial laundries the company manages.

Due to wastewater reduction efforts, that business is now 35 to 40 percent below the industry average in water usage, which also means a reduction in pollutants that can traditionally be found in wastewater disposal.

AUS regularly monitors environmental, health and safety compliance at all of its active processing plants, including air emissions, wastewater, and solid waste disposal. Proprietary programs are in place to ensure the development of technologies and procedures for the treatment of waste and wastewater, and for the safe handling of soils.

ARAMARK is also a charter member of LaundryESP (Laundry Environmental Stewardship Program), a voluntary pollution prevention program designed to enhance the environmental performance of textile service and supply companies. Since the program’s inception in 1999, the program has reduced the industry’s water use by approximately 12 percent, its energy use by 10 percent, and its pollutant discharge by 40 percent.

Other initiatives the company supports include reduction of fuel use and exhaust emissions by optimizing delivery truck routes, offering cloth towels as an alternative to paper towels, and offering alternatives to disposable scrubs and gowns in the healthcare industry.
