Philadelphia, PA, March 8, 2010 – Marc Bruno, president of ARAMARK Sports, Entertainment and Conventions, has been named to SportsBusiness Journal’s “Forty Under 40” Class of 2010, which recognizes the best and brightest young executives in the sports business industry.
“This recognition is emblematic of Marc’s commitment to enhancing the game day experience,” said Liza Cartmell, group president of ARAMARK Sports and Entertainment. “Marc’s vision and leadership enables ARAMARK to continue to transform the role food and beverage providers play in the sports and entertainment industry.”
As one of ARAMARK’s youngest and most accomplished executives, Bruno is responsible for ARAMARK’s operations at more than 170 premier sports, entertainment and convention centers across North America as well as the company’s Olympic catering projects. ARAMARK delivers memorable guest experiences by designing industry-leading hospitality, dining and catering, retail merchandise, and housekeeping and other related facility service programs. The company’s client roster includes nearly 100 arenas, ballparks and stadiums and more than 40 major league sports teams, for which it serves 60 million guests annually.
Under Bruno’s leadership, the company has re-defined its role, previously limited to simply managing services to becoming a true partner in the success of the venues where it operates and helping drive revenue through new innovations and fan engagement initiatives.
Among his leadership achievements this past year was the successful opening of new or renovated dining operations at three Major League ballparks – Citi Field in New York, Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City and Rogers Centre in Toronto – which are now viewed as models for reshaping the fan dining experience throughout baseball.
His commitment to creating enjoyable, fan-friendly environments extends beyond ARAMARK to his role as Vice Chairman of the Board for Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management (TEAM) Coalition – an alliance of professional sports teams, entertainment facilities, concessionaires, stadium service providers, the beer industry, broadcasters, governmental traffic safety experts, and others working together to promote responsible drinking and positive fan behavior at sports facilities.
Bruno also leads ARAMARK’s Olympic catering projects, for which the company has served as the dining and catering services provider for 15 Olympic Games. He works closely with both the International Olympic Committee and host country’s Olympic committee to design, develop and build catering programs from the ground up. His involvement with the Olympic Games spans more than 15 years, including the recently completed 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia, where ARAMARK handled dining services at Canada Hockey Place.
“The SportsBusiness Journal ‘Forty Under 40’ Awards program is one of the true gems of our franchise. The winners of this prestigious award are the real agents of change whose influence will shape our industry in the years ahead,” said Richard Weiss, Publisher, SportsBusiness Journal/Daily.
