Three-PETA! Citizens Bank Park Named Baseball’s Most Vegetarian-Friendly Ballpark For Third Straight Year

ARAMARK Venues Claim 5 of Top 10 Spots in Annual Ballpark Food Survey; Coors Field, Turner Field, Minute Maid Park and Oriole Park at Camden Yards Among Top 10

Philadelphia, PA, June 8, 2009 – For the third consecutive year, Citizens Bank Park – an ARAMARK concessions venue and home of Major League Baseball’s World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies – has been named America’s most vegetarian-friendly ballpark by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

Among PETA’s annual list of the best baseball venues for vegetarians, four of the top five and five of the top 10 spots, as well as two honorable mentions are ARAMARK clients. ARAMARK provides food and beverage services to 13 major league ballparks.

The Colorado Rockies’ Coors Field, the Atlanta Braves’ Turner Field and the Houston Astros’ Minute Park ranked third, fourth and fifth, respectively. The Baltimore Orioles’ Oriole Park at Camden Yards earned PETA’s No. 9 ranking, and PNC Park in Pittsburgh and the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum were honorable mentions.

“We’re committed to providing great quality and variety to every type of fan who attends games at the ballparks we partner with," said Marc Bruno, President of ARAMARK Sports, Entertainment & Conventions. "Fans are expecting more from their ballpark experiences, and recognition like this demonstrates how we’re listening to fans and hitting a homerun with innovative ideas and fan-friendly menus.”

Citizens Bank Park defended its No. 1 ranking this season with the addition of the southwestern black bean burger – grilled fresh, made to order with pico de gallo, pepper jack cheese, cilantro sour cream, lettuce and tomato, and served open-faced at the ballpark’s new Alley Grill in left field. ARAMARK also added mock-crab cake salads and veggie quesadillas to the Citizens Bank Park lineup.

"Food industry leaders like ARAMARK recognize the skyrocketing demand for mouth-watering, meat-free meals, from hearty veggie dogs and burgers to gourmet fare," said PETA Director of Campaigns Dan Shannon. "PETA is grateful to ARAMARK for providing baseball fans across the country with delicious, healthy, and humane vegetarian options."

ARAMARK’s website, www.ballparkfoods.com, provides an in-depth look at the menu items available at each of its Major League Baseball ballparks this season as well as the full range of culinary, retail and facilities services it offers.
